“The author’s ability to write the inner lives of mentally ill people is so accurate and evocative as to be emotionally devastating.

This is an extremely good book with fantastic characters and a great plot.

“M. A. Melby did a great job bringing her characters to life. I love how there is geek and queer with action, frustration, love and computer hacking!

A flowing book of adventure and bad memories!”

– Shay

Jaimes was fun. Nik was neurotic. What should have been a sweet familiar story about opposites falling in love, spirals into a surreal nightmare when someone saves a picture he shouldn’t have taken and a prank goes horribly wrong.

Bad Memory is a queer romance thriller filled with arguments, hookups, old school hacking, cool crimes, and questionable meds. The point of view of the story switches between Jaimes and Nik as they navigate a set of increasingly bizarre, painful, and extreme circumstances.

Will they end up together? Will they even survive? Does the universe just hate them, or is there someone behind it all? But most importantly, what’s up with the gummy bears?

Bad Memory was supposed to be a cute boy-romance story, but I guess I can’t help myself. Soon, the love story became intense and complicated.

Bad things happen to the main characters and the people around them, and they aren’t okay. They don’t magically spring out of it or completely overcome it. They live with it.

It’s an emotional story about two roommates who, at first, couldn’t get along and eventually become very close. It’s about friendship and protecting the ones you love.

It’s also full of fun fluff. Nik and Jaimes go to a gaming convention in the second book, for example. Mandi is an old school hacker. Geeks and BL-series fans are going to find a few satisfying inside references.

Enjoy.
